Diana Avellanet is the NRCS Florida CSP State Programs Specialist and has worked with the agency for 12 years. She was born and raised in Mayaguez, PR and graduated from the University of Puerto Rico – Mayaguez Campus on 2011. She holds a bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy and Soils with a Minor in Biology.

Diana is a product of the Student Temporary Experience Program (STEP), which employs students during the school year and/or in the summer. She started working with Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) as a STEP student in Huron, OH. After graduating, she was offered a permanent position in Huron and Erie, Ohio as a Soil Conservationist. In 2016 she moved to Michigan retaining her Soil Conservationist position on where she obtained knowledge with a variety of practices and crops. In 2019, she was offered a District Conservationist position in Plant City, FL on where she administered two counties and was also acting in multiple counties through the Area. Her journey didn’t stop there, in June of 2020, she was promoted to be the CSP State Program Specialist for the State of Florida. She also managed multiple programs such as Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP), EQIP and Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA). During this time, she also assisted as Acting Assistant State Conservationist for Programs on where she provided effective leadership and support of all USDA NRCS administrative and programmatic needs.

Diana has also served as the Hispanic Emphasis Program Manager (HEPM) for the states of Ohio and is currently the HEPM for Florida. She also has been an active member in the National Organization of Professional Hispanic NRCS Employees (NOPHNRCSE) since 2014.

In her free time, Diana enjoys spending time with her family.
